Power of Families: Making a Difference
Families of children with disabilities prove time and time again they have the power to make a difference. Historically, the efforts of family members are the primary reason children with disabilities have moved out of institutions and into schools and their communities. It is the power and persistence of families that allows individuals with disabilities to become full members of society.
The lifelong activities of support and advocacy create both challenges and opportunities. This section of our website is dedicated to family members who want to make a difference in a child’s life; in the lives of another family; or create change in their community or school system. We hope you find inspiration and ideas for making a difference in your situation through these examples and stories from other family leaders.
